The June meeting for the Structural Biology Interest Group will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 12 pm in the chemistry conference room (Hand Lab 1135). Our speakers this week are:

• Clint Mikek (Lewis Lab) - Clint will present an introduction to isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).
• Dinesh Yadav (Fitzkee Lab) - Dinesh will present a talk on his recent research on residue-specific folding kinetics in GB3.

Of general interest to SBIG:

Once again, we are offering "Biochemistry Boot Camp" this year to teach undergraduates the common tools they will need to perform their summer research. MSU graduate students and advanced high school students are welcome, too. Please take a look at this announcement, and get in touch with Dr. Fitzkee if you are interested.

To celebrate the end of class (and because several members of the Fitzkee lab are traveling), there will be no SBIG this month. See you in June!

• Kate Henderson - Kate is a student in Dr. Emerson's lab, and her talk is titled "Metal Binding to Taurine Dioxygenase: A thermodynamic assessment of Fe(II) binding to the 2-His-1-carboxylate motif."

The Structural Biology Interest Group will meet this Wednesday, March 19, at noon in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135). Our speakers will be:

• Dr. Keun-Seok Seo - A student from Dr. Seo's lab (CVM) will give a brief presentation on their new protein expression system and how they are using it to study the function of challenging proteins.

MSU will be closed on Wednesday, so we will not have SBIG tomorrow. This month's speakers will be pushed back to next month, and next month's scheduled speakers will move to April.

The Structural Biology Interest Group will meet this Wednesday, February 12, at noon in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135). Our speakers will be:

• Kate Henderson - Kate will give a presentation on her graduate research, entitled "Thermodynamics of metal binding in TauD and Dke1: a comparison of the 2-His 1-carboxylate and 3-His facial triad in non-heme iron(II) enzymes." Kate is a graduate student in the Chemistry Department in the Emerson lab.

Welcome back! SBIG will hold its first meeting of the year on January 8 at 12:00 pm in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135; usual time, usual place). Since it's the first meeting of the year, we'll have free pizza to welcome everyone back. Our presentations will be:
