SBIG Meeting - 12/11

We will have SBIG this Wednesday 12/11 at 12:00 pm in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135). It's a busy time, but we hope you'll join us for our final SBIG before the holidays.

Our speakers this week are:

  • Orr Bennett (Emerson Lab) - Orr will speak on protein phase diagrams; the paper for this presentation is here. Contact Nick Fitzkee if you would like the PDF.
  • Dr. Venkata Machha (Lewis Lab) - Venkata will present on SDS page and blotting methods.

See you Wednesday!

SBIG Meeting - 11/13

Once again, we'll have SBIG in the Chemistry Conference room at noon on Wednesday. We'll hear a presentation by David Wilson (Emerson Lab) on column cleaning and regeneration, and we will have a special guest from the Toghiani lab present on the use of statistics in chemistry. We hope to see you there!

SBIG Meeting - 9/11

At the Structual Biology Interest Group meeting last July, we decided to restructure things a bit. We are now meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 12 pm (still in Hand Lab 1135). Instead of doing two research talks, we will have one research talk (20-30 minutes) and one talk that focuses on a protocol or recent paper (15-20 minutes). As always, we invite anyone with an interest in structural biology and molecular biophysics, regardless of background.

SBIG Meeting - 7/12/2013

The Structural Biology Interest Group meets this Friday at noon in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135). To encourage participation, free pizza and drinks will be provided at this meeting. In addition to the normal student presentations, we're going to discuss a few organizational items. There's no such thing as a free lunch, so when you come, please bring your ideas on the following topics:

Come celebrate the beginning of summer with some structural biology! The Structural Biology Interest Group meets this Friday at noon in the Chemistry Conference Room (Hand Lab 1135). The presenters will be Yue Zhang (Fitzkee Lab) and Amy Martin (Emerson Lab). Yue will present on his research "A structural model for unfolded proteins from RDCs." Amy will present a review of the uses of X-Ray absorption spectroscopy in structural biology. She will be talking about this paper:

    SBIG Meeting - 2/8/2013

This week for SBIG, we'll talk about the NMR capabilities we have at MSU. Dr. Fitzkee will give a presentation on what NMR can tell you about molecular behavior, and whether it can be applied to your system. We will focus on advancements in NMR during the past 5-10 years. The talk should be non-technical, and scientists from other fields are encouraged to attend.
