Welcome to the homepage for the MSU Structural Biology Interest Group (SBIG)! This page contains information about our current meeting schedule and locations. Everyone is welcome at the meetings, but if you would like to receive emails, or if you would like to be included in the presentation schedule, please contact Dr. Fitzkee at nfitzkee @ chemistry.msstate.edu (remove spaces).
Currently, SBIG meets at noon on the second Wednesday of each month in the chemistry conference room, Hand Lab 1135 (click here for a map). Occasionally, we meet elsewhere, so please double-check the announcements below for more details.

The MSU biology department is hosting the 2012 annual meeting of the South Central Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. It's time for another SBIG meeting! One of our presenters had to cancel this week because of TA training, so we should have a short meeting. Ailin Wang (Fitzkee Lab) will present her research on protein interactions with gold nanoparticles.
We are back in the chemistry conference room this month, Hand Lab 1135. The meeting will start at 12:00 noon and will probably only last 30 minutes or so. As always, all grad students and faculty are welcome to attend.

The next meeting of the Structural Biology and Biophysics Interest Group is at 12:00 PM this Friday, July 13, 2012. This week, we'll be meeting in the Physics building, 135 Hilbun Hall. Please note the location change.
The speakers this week will be Hawa Gyamfi (Fitzkee Lab) and David Wilson (Emerson Lab). Hawa's presentation is titled "Peptide Binding Induces Large Scale Changes in Inter-domain Mobility in Human Pin1." David's talk is titled "Iron(II)-Substituted Carbonic Anhydrase: A Model Enzyme."

Dinesh's talk for the 6/8 meeting will be "Investigation into the unfolding of the DNA quadruplex : effect of loop sequence." Venkata's talk will be "Thermodynamic Studies of Linker Histone H1.0 interaction with Calf-Thymus DNA." Hope to see you Friday!
